Huck Finn Questions V-XI

.) Pap is disgusted to see that his son is getting an education, and he tells Huck that if he sees him at the school learning again, he’ll beat him dreadfully. He doesn't want no son of his getting an education, cause he never got one either. So he doesn't want Huck to become better than him at anything.

.)

.) He feels that that’s the only place he feels safe from everyone else in the world. Somewhere where he can just get away and feel relaxed and have peace, away from friends, away from the Widow and Miss Watson. And mostly away from where ever his Pap can find him. It reflects the theme of civilized society, and how he would rather be alone than just surrounded by many people.

.)

.)

.) How Huck thinks that Tom only gets his into trouble, or his plans are dumb and never are successful. But this time, he wants Tom there cause Huck cant come up with a good escape plan like Tom could. The plan would have ended up in disaster cause then Tom would have wanted to come along with them, and would have made it easier for Huck to get caught cause then Tom would want to steal something for the road, or bring along the rest of the gang with him. The plan would have been a complete failure if Tom went. He’s loud and obnoxious, and would get Huck, himself, and Jim caught.

.) After the Widow Douglas tells him about prayer, Huck prays for food, and in return he finds bread to eat. He’s so grateful for the food, he begins to believe that prayer is a true thing in life now, so he starts praying more and more as the days go by.

.) He has it in him now to take the risk of running away from his slave house with the Widow. Huck talks Jim into going to Jackson Island to escape the
His whole entire mind is changed now; he’s sees a new beginning by running off with Jim to Jackson Island. This is the rebirth of Huck Finn. In his mind, Huck is thinking like, what if Pap finds me, or any other white person? They see I’m with a slave, and they’re going to kill him if they find us. I don’t want to live with Widow Douglas and Miss Watson anymore, I want to be free.

.) Huck comes up with the idea to run away from the house, and take Jim with him, so Jim can make it up river, and become a free man. Huck’s mind is telling him no, but his heart is saying yes, go for it, become a free man yourself. Live your own life in freedom.

.) Shows that society doesn’t agree with what slavery is doing to people. And the people who own slaves, or agree with the terms of having slaves.

.) For one, he tried to listen to what the hairball was trying to say as if it was talking to him, and tried to listen to the hairball’s prediction. Jim doesn’t have any education whatsoever, but his predictions are coming true, and Huck begins to respect him.

.) It seems that Huck learned to play practical jokes like that one people from his friend Tom Sawyer. Huck puts a snake in Jim’s sleeping bag, and the snake ends up biting Jim hard, making him scream loudly. Huck learns that when some jokes are funny, then some are mean. He regrets what he did to Jim, cause he’s a true adult friend, not a teenager like the others. But it’s like Huck’s character anyways, it’s in his true nature.

.) That he truly has a heart, and is trying to show to Jim that he is a nice guy at heart, and he wants to be friends. He hides Jim all the time when people come. He truly wants to help Jim.

.)

.) Huck finds out that if someone finds his Pap, they receive $200. If someone finds the slave Jim, they’ll receive $300. The satire in this is that Jim is worth more than Pap, cause he’s a runaway slave. Nobody cares if he’s dead or alive; as long as he doesn't get farther away than he already is. Pap stole a bunch of whiskey and ran off too. He’s wanted for stealing and other things. If you kill Pap, then you can go to jail only cause he’s a white man.
