Nick tries to figure out who all attended Gatsbys party. He gets some names, but not all of them. Later him and Gatsby head to New York where they are supposed to have lunch together. They chat about what has happened to Gatsby in the past and where he attended college. And that he had collected jewels an went big game hunting in Europe for years. They are driving down the road, and a policeman stops them, pulling Gatsby over. He pulls out a card, which he shows to the policeman, who lets Gatsby go, confusing Nick.
Nick then meets Mr. Wolfshiem. They talk, then later Gatsby reveals that Wolfshiem fixed the 1919 World Series. Later, Nick finds Jordan, which tells him what her and Gatsby were chatting about at the party. She tells him that Gatsby is in love with Daisy, and wants to be back together with her. She used to live in Kentucky, where all the officers loved her, but the one she noticed the most was Gatsby, who was stationed by her house. Gatsby then had to leave for war, and Daisy ended up marrying Tom. This is why Gatsby had bought his mansion by her house, so he could get the chance to fall back into each others arms.
Gatsby asks Nick to set up a little date so that Daisy would come over for tea. Gatsby gets jitters just thinking about it.
